Paddock Wood book

the history of our school 1945 - 1983

I shared the book with the girls at our Reunion; not for a moment did I think anyone would want a copy but, several girls asked if they could have one.  I make the book on my computer and upload each one to Apple to process; I’m afraid they’re aren’t cheap (I make just £10 a copy), but the quality is fabulous and its a super record of the history of your former school.*

I’ve created several books now for girls which have been sent not only to several destinations in the UK but Venezuela, Colombia, Bermuda, Israel, Germany, New York and 2 to Greece!

My book tells of a war hero - our own Mrs Rosette Savill - decorated by General de Gaulle for her selfless acts and amazing war effort.  It tells how her family

were involved also and how the school

flourished into the school we all know

and love.

Its 66 pages contain over 120 photo-

graphs (both black and white and colour),

with official group photos and  many

unofficial but personal photos from former students. I feel so lucky girls have allowed me to use their photographs for the benefit of the book and to these, I shall be forever grateful.

The book also has copies of pages from

an early 1950‘s prospectus  and a

fundraising brochure from the 1970’s,

telling the story of why the Savills were

trying to raise money and how it would

be spent.

With photos of “then and now”, showing

how aspects looked way back then and how they are today, it’s a colourful record for any proud Paddock Woodian. I can add your own photos as integral to your book.

I’ve donated a copy to Camberley’s Surrey Heath Museum so future generations can learn about our school that made so many girls happy from around the world.  I know you’ll agree that Mrs Savill did an amazing job and it should be recorded for all time.

* There is a Reunion edition too with 80 pages containing 220+ photographs, a delightfully colourful account of the very first Paddock Wood Reunion, held on 18th June, 2011

This is the story of our school, gleaned from newspaper and magazine articles I’ve come across in my extensive research over the years.

In my thirst to find out how the school began, life as it was through the (nearly), 4 decades it was in existence, together with why it closed its doors in the early 1980’s, set me on a course to find out all I could.  Once I had the full story I was content but it struck me that if I was to shuffle off this mortal coil, it would all go to waste and what a shame it would be that no one would know about it and us so...........my book was born!
